"These are NOT "official" specs: At E3, we were running all of the Uru demos on PCs with AMD CPUs, (2-point-something gigahertz), and ATI Radeon 9800 graphics cards, and via a broadband connection from L.A. to our server in Spokane. The game ran silky smooth. Now, keep in mind that we ALSO have the game running just great on a 700mhz Intel CPUs with a Geforce2MX. My workstation at Cyan is a 2.4 Ghz Intel with a Geforce3, 512MB ram. Capable, sure, but certainly not "top of the line". Uru runs just fine, even WITH both 3DStudioMax and Photoshop7 open in the background. Not to mention Outlook Express, Winamp, ICQ, and MSN messenger. Bottom line: pretty much any new PC will be capable of running Uru. The graphics card is what matters most (in my opinion). Both the new Geforces and the new Radeons will do you right. Personally, I'd recommend staying away from any of the GeForceMX cards, since they are the cheap low-end... you get what you pay for. Eric A Anderson (LemonLime) Lead CG Artist Cyan Worlds, Inc. www.cyan.com Update: Bob from Cyan adds a little information on RAM: QUOTE I should add, in another not "official" manner... > Now, keep in mind that we ALSO have the game running just great on a 700mhz > Intel CPUs with a Geforce2MX. > Bottom line: pretty much any new PC will be capable of running Uru. The > graphics card is what matters most (in my opinion). Both the new Geforces > and the new Radeons will do you right. Personally, I'd recommend staying > away from any of the GeForceMX cards, since they are the cheap low-end... > you get what you pay for. The other big kicker is memory. You don't notice anything until you run out, and the machine has to switch to virtual memory and performance just blows. (This is true for any program, not just Uru). Since RAM is pretty cheap these days (relatively speaking) it pays to get a little more. The 700mhz machine Eric mentioned has 512mb. Video card memory is important too. But you can easily set the slider to use lower resolution textures." La verdad es q m alegro de escuxar esto ya q significa q URU funcionara sin problemas en mi equipo (siempre y cuando agan una version para mac..., sino me tendre q comprar la version para gamecube...). |
