The second issue of Go magazine from the Guild of Messengers is available now! Featuring in-depth articles on the narrative of Myst, Lunanne also details D'ni architecture, while Laughing Pineapple shares another story with an original illustration by Skull Kid. An interview with our very own Tweek sheds some interesting perspective on the D'niverse, and Allatwan takes us on a photo trip through Myst.

Do you speak English? Do you also speak another language?

My name OHB, and I want to recruit you for the URU Localization Project (ULP)!

Our goal is to translate the content and interface of Myst Online: URU Live into as many language as possible. One day we hope to release language packs so those who don't speak English can fully enjoy the experience of being in D'ni. Language packs also be released for the offline version of URU.

Every day we see an increasing number of visitors to the cavern from other countries who speak little or no English. With each language into which URU is translated, new worlds open for new players. Not only will the URU community grow, but it will be enriched by the diverse cultures participating.

Cyan Worlds is aware of this project - a representative called it "very interesting and something that is needed".

Please check out the site and use the Guest access link to look inside and see how it works.

But, we need your help. Even if translating isn't your thing - you can still help by reviewing the translations submitted by others and voting for those that meet expectations. Please join us!

Ah, another Mysterium has come and gone with its own memories and stories to tell! After allowing everyone a chance to recuperate from that weekend, the Committee has some final bits of information to share with you about this year's event.

Afflicted
We want to let everyone know that, in spite of few delayed cases, reports seem to indicate that everyone has recovered from the mysterious bug that began circulating on Saturday night. As far as we know, no Cyantists reported sick, and we are checking with the hotel to make sure the staff is okay. We're going to be making a list of sanitary supplies to have on hand to help reduce the chance of something like this happening again for Mysterium 2010 and beyond.

Hotel Review
We had an amazing hotel staff for our event, there's no doubt about that! If you haven't already, we would ask that everyone who attended would show their appreciation by giving them a glowing review. We don't think anyone can deny that they deserve at least that much from us. You may use the "Comment about your Stay" page at Choicehotels.com, and be sure to enter WA215 when asked for a hotel code.

Silverwood Refunds
Good news on the Silverwood front! They have promised us a 100% refund. The only downside is that it will take nearly a month to get a single check processed and sent back to the Committee. At that time, Odo, our Treasurer, will mail personal checks to all the individuals who signed up for Silverwood. In the light of this, we'd like to ask everyone who signed up for Silverwood to email Odo (odo@mysterium.net) to make sure that their mailing address information is accurate! We don't want to accidentally leave anyone out.

Photo Galleries
We have been gathering links to galleries of photos taken by Mysterium goers and we would like to maintain a permanent list hosted on Mysterium.net! To make things easier for you, we have scoured the forums and compiled a list of galleries and videos that we were able to find. If you find that your gallery is missing, you may email GermanShepherd (germanshepherd@mysterium.net) to be included! (Or you may email him to have your links removed, if that's your wish.) You may visit the list here: http://www.mysterium.net/mysterium-2009/photo-galleries/
We would also like to remind everyone that there is an official Mysterium 2009 Flickr Group Pool set up for people to post their photos to! You don't need a Flickr account to view the pool, but if you have an account and you took photos that you want to share, we encourage you to add your own Mysterium memories to the pool. (It may not immediately apparently, but the pool will also accept videos, so feel free to share those, too!) We may also be contacting you directly to ask permission to post your photos to the Flickr pool ourselves, in case you don't have the time.

Books
We are pleased to announce that the 20-page Mysterium 2009 Convention Book and 12-page Mysterium Cookbook are both available for purchase on MagCloud for those who wish to do so. The Convention Book is available for $5.00, and the Cookbook is available for $8.40. (If you'd like to save some money, MagCloud is holding a 20%-off sale from now until August 31st, so before that date the cost is $4.20 for the Convention Book and $7.92 for the Cookbook.) All proceeds from the purchase of these books will go toward funding future Mysteriums.
Because the Cookbook was originally promised as part of the Convention Book and needed to be separated due to cost and size constraints, we would like to offer the Cookbook to those who attended at a discounted price. If you attended Mysterium 2009 and would like a copy of the Mysterium Cookbook, please contact web@mysterium.net so we can send you the appropriate link.
Both the Mysterium 2009 Convention Book and the Mysterium Cookbook can be purchased online at http://mysterium.magcloud.com. Please be aware that MagCloud presently only ships to the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

On The Horizon
Since so many people were feeling the effects of the sickness on Sunday, prize distribution was canceled. However, we are going to Plan B in that regard and we are looking into mailing the prizes to the winners. We are also working to make additional t-shirts available for purchase online by anyone who was unable to get one. In addition to that, we're also beginning to prepare a wrap up poll that will allow you to give feedback on how this year's Mysterium was handled as well as allow you more opportunities to shape future events! We expect to have more information on these things in the near future.
And with that, we hope everyone had a great time at Mysterium this year (even in spite of that nasty bug) and we look forward to seeing you again in 2010!

On behalf of the entire Mysterium Committee, the Location Team is excited to announce that next year's Mysterium will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota!
The city for Mysterium 2010 was chosen through a combination of community-wide polling and much research. Because the top three cities on the poll turned out to be statistically tied (click here for the final numbers), we set out to do further research on each of the top cities to determine which was most ideal rather than let the randomness of the tie determine the location.
Minneapolis has a number of hotels to choose from that offer easy transit to and from the airport and provide the large meeting spaces we've come to rely on while maintaining affordable rates. The public transportation options provide a simple way around the city for those flying in, and those driving in will have an equally easy time of navigating the streets. Between museums like the Bakken Museum of Electricity in Life and the 370,000-square-foot Science Museum of Minneapolis, the shopping centers like the famous Mall of America, and the many parks and lakes within the city to explore, we think the city provides everything needed for a Mysterium city!
In the end, Minneapolis was chosen not only for its top place in the poll and outstanding qualities in the above-mentioned areas, but also because a few locals have volunteered to personally check out hotels, and advise on local transportation options and attractions. The ability to have people physically go to an area and find out information is critical to making Mysterium as affordable and enjoyable as possible.
In closing, we'd like to thank all of you for your patience while we worked to select a city and we want to wish all those who are attending Mysterium 2009 right now an awesome, fun and safe trip! If you were unable to attend this year (like those of us on the Location Team), we hope you'll be able to attend next year's!
Shorah!
TW, Odo, GermanShepherd (Location Team), and the rest of the Mysterium Committee

The Mysterium Committee is pleased to announce that the location poll for Mysterium 2010 is now open! For those who are interested in attending next year’s Mysterium, this is your chance to have a say in where it'll be held. The poll will close on July 18, so spread the word and vote!
(Drum roll, please!) The candidate cities are:
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Kansas City, Missouri
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • St. Louis, Missouri
To vote in the poll, please visit: http://www.mysterium.net/limesurvey/index.php?sid=42269. At the start of the poll, you will be presented with an overview of each city which will include general costs, travel information, and some interesting attractions. We encourage you to review each city before you make a decision. Please note that we are running the poll a bit differently than in 2008, so please read the directions carefully. If you have problems with the poll, contact the Location Subcommittee via the Contact Form.

We will be announcing the location during Mysterium 2009 (July 30 - August 2), so watch for the results on that weekend!
Thanks to each and every one of you for your continued excitement about Mysterium. Our only goal is to provide you the best Mysterium possible, and we look forward to 2010.

Attention Mysterium 2009 attendees!

The group rate of $89/night can also be used 3 days before and after the event. Room reservations may be canceled as late as 4pm on the day you check in, so it is recommended that you reserve now even if you may not be able to make it.
The hotel’s reservation number is (509) 535-9000 and be sure to mention the “Mysterium Group” when you call!
If there are any problems, feel free to contact Odo via the contact form on the Mysterium website.

Hey, folks!
With location bidding now closed, voting on the location of Mysterium 2010 will open on July 12th, and close the night of July 18th, so mark your calendars! In the meantime, we will be scrutinizing each city to come up with some useful information for each that we will provide at the time of voting. That will hopefully give everyone a better idea of what visiting each city would entail.
We just wanted to give everyone an early heads-up on this, because this poll will only be open for only one week, and we want to make sure that everyone who wants to vote is able to. Details on the voting and where the voting will take place will come in the near future, so keep watching Mysterium.net and your local community forum!

As time lingers on most grab for something to hold on to, to keep the interest alive. For us it is another issue of the “Where R U Uru” newspaper. This month we have an interesting line up with “Uru in Education”, as much news as we could find and some artwork by Artoveli. Plus we have the result of the new GoMe PhotoQuest competition. So please sit back and enjoy.

Just a reminder that bidding for the location for Mysterium 2010 is open! We are seeking locations in the North American Central time zone. June 30th is the deadline for bids, so please get yours in as soon as you can!
Bids should include as much of the following as possible:
o sample hotel costs (ideally, 3+ two to three-star rated hotels in different points of the city) - hotels must have meeting space for at least 50 people either on-site (strongly preferred) or immediately adjacent to the hotel,
o any events that may coincide with Mysterium (late June through early August - this may include large conventions, festivals, etc.),
o local transportation options and costs (options for getting around the city, as well as for traveling to and from the airport/train station/etc. are desirable),
o local tax rates - especially sales, restaurant, and hotel taxes, and
o any other resources (links, chamber of commerce/tourism office phone numbers) relating to the area that may be helpful in planning Mysterium.
Submitting a bid means that, if possible, you commit to assisting the committee with local planning efforts, including:
o Staying in frequent contact and being available for questions while we decide locations
o Attending 1 committee meeting a month, beginning in September, following your bid's selection,
o Performing location legwork in a timely manner including:
o calling & visually inspecting hotels,
o locating attractions/food within walking distance of chosen hotel,
o assisting where needed in negotiating group deals for activities and attractions,
o obtaining visitor information from city/area, and
o assisting with on-site responsibilities such as manning registration, cat-herding events, and other tasks as needed.
In the event that you cannot submit a full bid or commit to committee assistance, partial bids will be accepted. However, committee participation is strongly preferred (as you know these cities far better than we do ;)). More complete bids may be treated more favorably than less-complete bids.
Again, bids must be received by June 30th, 2009. To submit your bid, please use the form on the Mysterium website (2010 section). Please contact Odo with any questions regarding how to assemble the information, suggestions on finding any this information for your city, for examples from past Mysterium events, or with any questions/suggestions regarding this process.

Shorah and greetings, Myst fans!
Mysterium 2009 is just weeks away! We will be in beautiful Spokane, Washington this year, from July 30th through August 2nd, and are looking forward to seeing you there! If you are planning to attend, remember that online pre-registration closes on July 1st.
Pre-registration gets you $5 off the cost of admission (or $4 off for one-day passes), and ensures that you will receive a swag bag, a convention book, and a copy of the Mysterium Cookbook (we had such a positive response to both that we overflowed into a second booklet!). For an additional cost, you can also sign up to participate in the Silverwood Theme Park excursion on Sunday. If you plan on going to Silverwood, we strongly advise you to pre-register, as we need to provide a head-count for the picnic lunch 2 weeks in advance. Finally, by pre-registering you can be sure to get a Mysterium 2009 t-shirt. We are screen-printing our shirts this year to reduce their cost to you, but we need to have an estimate for how many to print in advance. Only a limited quantity of each size will be available at the door, so if you definitely want a shirt, please pre-register!
To pre-register for Mysterium, you will need to create an account on the Mysterium website. Once you are logged in to your account, go to the Online Registration page (you can click here, or select the "Register Online" link in the mysterium.net sidebar) and complete the registration form. Pre-registrations can be paid using check or PayPal.
We are also pleased to announce that our room and ride sharing forum is back up and running, and is integrated into your Mysterium.net account! If you need a room, or a ride, or if you're willing to share yours with someone else, post in the Room and Ride Share page of the Mysterium 2009 section by going here.
If you have any questions or concerns about pre-registration, making payments or this announcement please contact us before July 1st! We are always happy and willing to discuss options with you.

Shorah and greetings once again fellow Myst fans! Mysterium 2009 is just two months away! The Mysterium Planning Committee is gearing up for it, and we've got a boat-load of updates for you today.

T-SHIRTS
First, we're pleased to officially announce our logo contest winners! Two of them, in fact! This years t-shirt designs are from the lovely and talented Jean Fioca, and the equally lovely and talented Claire 'Shoomlah' Hummell.
Jean created this year's front design, a lighthearted celebration of the 10th Mysterium ever.
user posted image

Claire gives us the back design, a unique representation of all the Myst games to date. See if you can spot all the references!
user posted image

Our t-shirts will be screen-printed this year. Because of this, we are taking pre-orders on shirts with registrations to get an accurate estimate of how many we need to print. As a result, if you want to ensure you get a shirt, we strongly recommend that you pre-register! Shirts are $14 each for Small through XL sizes (and $15 for XXL shirts). You can order your shirts by visiting the Mysterium website and pre-registering to attend here: http://www.mysterium.net/mysterium-2009/online-registration/

Thank you to all our entrants, you make voting fun! All of this years entries can be viewed here: http://www.mysterium.net/mysterium-2009/logo-contest-2009/

PRIZES
Once again, the Mysterium committee is reaching out to our talented community for Myst-themed items that can be given away as prizes at this year's events. Last year, people went home with limited edition Riven keychains, beautiful handmade books, and unique swag... what will we have for the attendees this year?

Please email eleri@mysterium.net to donate a prize. Thanks so much for helping make Mysterium happen!

At last! This seven (yes 7) ages can now be visited!

Ametist and Metasabalt, two teachers in real life, have just released a set 7 Educational Ages to challenge their students and demonstrate once again how much Uru is not just a game.

QUOTE
We thank those of you who contributed ideas for the new ages as well as translated our English journals into German (Laura and Diafero). Our ages are very much a work in progress, and we hope that you will give us more ideas to improve them either from an educational or technical point of view. We want to create puzzles that will challenge our students as only Uru can. We wish all you could be in our classrooms when we show the students these uru educational ages. They are so excited, and even usually unmotivated students participate in the lessons. For us, that is the greatest reward for our work!
The new ages include new puzzles and two new ages: Wind River and Cretaceous. We invite you now to explore our new ages. Starting in Dragon’s tooth, examine the information in the journey books, and reconstruct our world as it existed millions of years ago…

Those of you that use Drizzle may already have visited some of these our EducationalAges within offlineURU. For those who don't please use this link to get them. All seven ages are parts of a 'theme', and connected to each other with Journals or linking-books.

Enjoy!!

Shorah and greetings, Myst fans!
Mysterium weekend is fast approaching, and we're starting to ramp up for production of our first ever Mysterium Convention Book. In addition to the important convention-related stuff like the schedule, we want to feature as much community-created content as possible. If you have a short story, poem, painting, drawing, fan-created Age render, or D'ni-inspired food or drink dish, we would love to feature it in the convention book! Get it to us quickly, though, because the deadline for convention book submissions is May 31st! To submit your material, visit www.mysterium.net and click on the "Con Book Submissions" or "Cook Book Submissions" links at the top of the page.
You don't have to attend Mysterium to get a copy of the completed book, as we'll be selling them online after the convention, but we'd love to see you there! If you haven't already pre-registered to attend, please do so soon by going to the Mysterium website; the deadline for online pre-registration is July 1st. Online pre-registration is $15 for adults, a $5 discount off of the at-the-door price, and a convention book is included in the cost of registration.
